Meet Dr. Laurelyn Barnett

“I love the miracles.”

Marietta Chiropractor Dr. Laurelyn Barnett

Dr. Laurelyn Barnett

Dr. Barnett had her first chiropractic experience when she was in high school. It wasn’t pleasant and she decided she would never have an adjustment again. At the age of 21 she couldn’t turn her neck so she allowed her yoga instructor to adjust her. That instructor, also a doctor, introduced her to other chiropractors that practiced a light technique called Directional Non-Force Technique® (DNFT).

“What a different touch! He was very gentle, not at all like the adjustment I remembered. It took weekly adjustments for two years, but the X-rays showed my cervical curve heading back in the right direction.”

Chiropractic Made Sense

Dr. Barnett became a licensed massage therapist in 1997. She suggested chiropractic to many of the people she saw. Their response was usually that they would only see a chiropractor if she was the chiropractor. This is when she decided it was time to
go back to school.

“I knew I could be a chiropractor because I believed in it, chiropractic made sense.”

Dr. Barnett graduated from Life University of Chiropractic in 2008. She has always been able to help her patients with massage therapy and acupressure. Adding a chiropractic adjustment allows her to provide better care and quicker healing. “I love being able to care for someone without the use of drugs and surgery. They actually get results in a short amount of time compared to however long they had the problem.”

Reach Your Potential with Chiropractic

One of Dr. Barnett’s goals is to help you understand that your spine is connected to everything else in your body. If there are problems with the spine, there could be problems down the line in other areas of your body.

Dr. Barnett loves helping patients experience healing and wellness. She is proficient in Activator care, a gentle technique using an instrument to adjust the spine. She also manually adjusts when necessary. “They both work.” She enjoys combining massage and chiropractic to help people feel their best and reach their full potential.

“Chiropractic and massage work together. I know for myself if I only receive one or the other I don’t get the best benefit. In patients I see faster progress in holding their adjustments when they also get regular massage, and even better adding regular exercise.”

Outside the Office

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Barnett likes spending time with her 17-year-old daughter, her new puppy, and her three cats. She also enjoys gardening, working out at the local gyms, and doing yoga. She may even teach you a few yoga moves to help enhance your healing!
