Soft Tissue Therapy in Marietta

Soft tissue includes Muscles, ligaments , tendons and the all important fascia which covers each muscle fiber and muscle group like saran wrap forming a communication and support systems throughout your body.  When you have subluxations in your spine the soft tissue will change it’s position becoming stretched or compressed in areas all over your body no matter where the misalignment is.  Over time these areas can become less mobile and will impede the chiropractic adjustment to a degree.  Soft tissue work helps to re-train the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and especially fascia to accept the spine’s new position faster.

Soft tissue work helps integrate and enhance the amazing effects of the adjustment

At Chiropractic at the Lighthouse LLC we recommend Manual Therapy in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments to integrate and enhance the effects of the adjustment. Our patients see faster progress and hold their adjustments longer when Manual Therapy is included in their care.  The modalities include trigger point, myofacial release, manual traction etc.  The length of this service is 30-60 minutes depending on what you need.  Dr Barnett graduated from Cayce Reilly School of Massage where she took additional training in Jin Shin Do as well as the above mentioned therapies.

CranioSacral Therapy/Cranial Sacral

Cranial sacral therapy (also known as craniosacral therapy) is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses the Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) flow using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams – about the weight of a nickel – contacting the bones of the head, spine, and tailbone.  CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it’s effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.  Dr Barnett is trained in the Upledger style Cranial Sacral Technique.

Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymph drainage (MLD) is a gentle manual treatment technique based on four basic strokes, which were initially developed in the 1930’s by Dr. Emil and Estrid Vodder,  PhD’s from Denmark. These basic strokes known as the “stationary circle”, “pump”, rotary” and “scoop” techniques are designed to manipulate lymph nodes and lymphatic vessels with the goal of increasing their activity and promote the flow of lymph.  Good for after surgeries, allergies, headaches, swelling, and much much more… Dr Barnett is trained in the Vodder  method of Manual Lymph Drainage.
